TestWavesoftwareintegratesreal-worldhardwaremeasurementsand
VSScomputersimulation,beginningwitheithersimulationor
hardware.Bystartingwiththesimulationofdigital
communicationsformatssuchas802.11a,globalsystemformobile
communication(GSM),orwidebandcodedivisionmultipleaccess
(W-CDMA),signalscanbesimulatedandexportedfromVSSsoftware
toasignalgenerator,whichdrivesthedevice-under-test(DUT).
ThemeasureddatafromthisDUThardwarecanbeimportedbackinto
VSSsoftwareandcomparedwithsimulationresultsofthe
hardware'smodel.Fromthiscomparison,thedesigncanberefined.
Startingwithhardware,vectorsignalanalyzermeasurementsof
real-worldsignalscanbeimportedintotheVSSsoftwareandused
todrivesimulationmodelswithreal-worldsignalsgeneratedfrom
actualtestequipment.Designerscanseetheeffectsofthetest
signalsbeforeinvestinginhardwareprototypes.
AWR'sTestWavesoftwareintegratestestandmeasurementequipment
withbothVSSandMicrowaveOfficesimulatorsoverRS-232,GPIB,
orLAN.ItistightlyintegratedintotheAWRDesignEnvironment,
includinganiconintheprojecthierarchy.Itsuserinterface
allowsforasimple,efficientmeanstoimportsignalsandmanage
data.
InadditiontotheTestWaveinterface,add-inblocksthat
interfacedirectlyfromVSSsystemdiagramsdisplayintheElement

exportsignalstoT&Mdirectlyfromsystemdiagramsusing
TestWave.TightlyintegratedVSSsystemdesignloops,starting
witheithersimulationorhardware,increasetheefficiencyand
accuracyofthedesignprocess.
VSSsoftwarecanshareIQsimulationdatawithanIQsignal
generatorsuchasaRohde&SchwarzAMIQ/SMIQorAgilentESG-D,
withonemouseclick.TheTestWavetoolintegratesMicrowave
OfficeandVSSsoftwarewithawidevarietyofpopulartest
equipmentfrommanufacturerssuchas:AnritsuWiltron,Rohde&
Schwarz,MarconiInstruments,Fluke/Philips,Tektronix,Boonton,
LeCroy,Yokogawa,IFR,Wandel&Goltermann,Advantest,Hewlett
PackardandAgilentTechnologies.Equipmenttypessupportedbythe
TestWaveproductincludenetworkanalyzers,spectrumanalyzers,
modulationanalyzers,andoscilloscopes.
